How can I tell if something might be a scam?

Plastics Industry Association (PLASTICS), producer of NPE2021, has received several reports of third-party scammers contacting our attendees and exhibitors regarding hotel bookings and pre-registered attendee lists, with some even stating that NPE has been cancelled. These scammers have no affiliation with NPE2021.

Expovision is the only Official Hotel Reservation Office for NPE2021, has negotiated the lowest rates in Orlando, FL for the show, and only requires a one-night room rate plus tax deposit. Any company requiring full prepayment should be viewed with extreme suspicion. If you are solicited by any group other than Expovision regarding hotel reservations for NPE2021, please contact npe@plasticsindustry.org.

PLASTICS does not rent, share, or sell the NPE exhibitor or attendee lists, and no third-party is authorized to distribute or sell any lists related to PLASTICS events. Read the NPE privacy policy. If you are solicited by any group with a domain name in their email address other than @plasticsindustry.org, @npe.org, or @mapyourshow, please contact npe@plasticsindustry.org.

It has also come to our attention that attendees and exhibitors have been receiving emails stating that NPE has been cancelled. This is not true—NPE2021 is being planned as scheduled, May 17–21, 2021. These emails are not coming from PLASTICS or NPE Show Management, and the companies sending these emails are not associated with PLASTICS in any way—they are scammers trying to sell bogus lists.
